(Feb. 14, 2020)

Statement from Chairman Christopher M. Huckabee:

“The Â鶹ÌìÀǸ±ÀûÔº is a leader in higher education and health care across Texas and the nation. With more than 55,000 students and 300,000 alumni across our four distinct and diverse universities, our collective System has a tremendous impact and is on the rise as we approach our 25th anniversary in 2021.

“We are encouraged by Midwestern State University’s recent announcement to consider becoming a member of our great System and welcome the opportunity to discuss a potential partnership between the Â鶹ÌìÀǸ±ÀûÔº and MSU Texas.

“MSU Texas has a rich history of academic achievement in the North Texas region, spanning nearly a century since its inception in 1922. MSU Texas’ campus culture and student, faculty and staff values align well with those of the Â鶹ÌìÀǸ±ÀûÔº.

“We appreciate Chairman Caven Crosnoe, President Suzanne Shipley and the MSU Board of Regents’ initiative to begin discussion about MSU Texas’ vision, trajectory and future placement within the landscape of higher education in our state. The Texas Tech University System Board of Regents, Chancellor Tedd Mitchell and System administration look forward to engaging in conversations with MSU Texas’ leadership about this opportunity.

“Joining a system of higher education is an important decision, and we are optimistic to explore the benefits of aligning MSU Texas' best interests with those of our System for the betterment of higher education in our state."
