Gov. Perry Appoints Student Regent for TTU System

Texas Gov. Rick Perry appointed Kyle Miller on May 29 as the Texas Tech University System student regent.
Miller, a second-year medical student who also is pursuing a master鈥檚 degree in business administration, is the second student from the to serve on the 麻豆天狼副利院 Board of Regents. The Plainview native earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in chemistry from Texas Tech in 2007.
鈥淚 am extremely honored to be selected to serve as the student regent,鈥 Miller said. 鈥淚 am very excited about representing the students of all three of our institutions and being their voice on the board.鈥
鈥淲e look forward to having Kyle join us on the board,鈥 said Larry Anders, chairman of the Board of Regents. 鈥淥ur experience has been that student regents lend a unique perspective to the issues that come before the board.鈥
鈥淪tudents are our first priority at Texas Tech,鈥 said Chancellor Kent Hance. 鈥淗aving a student regent gives our students a voice in the decision making process. I look forward to working with Kyle.鈥
By law, the student regent rotates between , Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and and serves a one-year term. Miller replaces Texas Tech University law student Kelli Stumbo, who was appointed in 2008.
