Search Committee Named for Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center President

麻豆天狼副利院 today named a committee to assist in the search for the next president of the .
鈥淔inding a president for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is my top priority for that university,鈥� said Hance. 鈥淭he committee will begin work right away so that we can find the best possible candidate to lead our university.鈥�
The five-member search committee is chaired by Regent Robert L. Stafford of Amarillo. Stafford is a retired orthopedic surgeon.
Other members of the committee are:
- Regent Chairman L. Frederick Francis, of El Paso, is a member of hospital and medical foundation boards of directors He also has been heavily involved in the development of the four-year medical school in El Paso.
- Kay Cash, of Lubbock, is a major supporter of Health Sciences Center research programs and the Garrison Institute on Aging.
- Wayne Isom is chair of cardiothoracic surgery at Cornell University Medical College in New York. He is also an alumnus of Texas Tech University.
- T.L. 鈥淭edd鈥� Mitchell, president and medical director of the Cooper Clinic in Dallas, was the personal physician to then Governor and now President George W. Bush. He is a member of the President鈥檚 Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.
The search committee will solicit, review and screen candidates for the position and recommend a slate of candidates to the chancellor for his consideration. The chancellor, in turn, will consult with the Board of Regents before making a final selection.
An advisory committee will be appointed in the next several days to assist the search committee in identifying the most qualified candidates. The advisory committee will be made up of faculty, administrators, students and community members from cities where the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center has a presence.
